Skrinnaren's Guide to the Lakes of Eastern Svealand is a guidebook from Calazo Publishing. Eastern Svealand has many popular ice skating lakes, but the details of how the lakes freeze have been relatively unknown. This book presents several hundred ice skating lakes. There is a strong focus on the specially made maps that show freezing stages in numbered and colored zones, inflows, straits, cracks, warnings, and places with complex water currents. The reader is also provided with suggestions for trips with suitable starting points, sights, rest areas, and smart walking routes.
The book covers all lakes in Uppland and Sörmland, as well as large parts of Västmanland and Gästrikland. The Stockholm area is extensively covered, while others are selected.
The author of the book, Mårten Ajne, has been ice skating for forty years and has twenty years of experience as an ice reporter and expedition leader for the Stockholm Ice Skating Sailing Club. He has previously written books such as The Big Book of Long Distance Ice Skating, Winter Waters, and Skrinnaren's Guide to Lake Mälaren.
